Happy Birthday to me...ouch! - Wednesday, February 27, 2008

Monday was my 2 month birthday, and Tuesday was my 9 week birthday. For my birthdays, I got immunization shots! Ouch!! I was very good and cried only when getting poked. I also found out that I'm not napping enough during the day, and that's why I've been a little fussy lately. Oh, and Mom & Dad were way off when they said I was over 12 pounds. I officially weighed only 10 pounds and 11 ounces, despite my huge head.

Monday I finally got to meet Maya and Auntie Ines! We met at Holly's house. Too bad Zach couldn't make it - leaving me with all the ladies in the house.

Menage a trois - Thursday, February 21, 2008

Holly and I went to visit Zachary and Auntie Steph. We had a blast! We each showed off our unique talents: Zach can spit up like a pro, Holly has a neck of steel, and I surprised everyone by rolling on my side. Everyone tried to out-do everyone else by pooping loudly and often. We got to try Zach's cool toy, and we liked it so much that our moms bought one for each of us on the way home.

Little Person, Big Baby - Tuesday, February 19, 2008

It's my 8 week birthday! I'm not even 2 months old yet, but I keep hearing Mommy say I'm such a big boy now. The other day she told me that my head grew overnight. My whole body is wider and thicker, and my knees and thighs are getting real chubby. My thighs are where I store all the extra cute fat! I've started to out-grow some of my clothes already. My hands are bigger, and I'm starting to open them up more rather than keeping them tight-fisted. I can sit up (with a little help). I've also found my voice, so I coo and make lots of other noises when I'm not crying. I'm getting better and playing by myself too, so Mom & Dad don't have to carry me around all the time. My feet apparently have doubled in size. Mommy says that when I was just one week old, she would massage my feet with her thumbs. And back then, her thumb stretched from the ball of my foot to my heel! Now my feet reach all the way across Mommy's palms. I'm a big baby now! Thank goodness I'm still a little person.

We had a triple birthday party! It's Holly's 2 month birthday and Holly's daddy's birthday too. We had a nice, quiet dinner at Mom & Dad's favorite Japanese restaurant. Then there were games and cake! Daddy let me stay up late, but I still went to bed at a reasonable hour. I'm such a good boy.

Happy Valentine's Day! - Thursday, February 14, 2008

We took a short stroll to a nearby park, where I watched bigger kids play in the sand. Since it was Mom & Dad's first Valentine's Day together as a married couple, I was extra specially good and let them have a nice, peaceful evening together.

It's Official - Wednesday, February 13, 2008

We picked up my birth certificate. I have official proof that I was born! We also went to the mall, and Mommy bought me lots of clothes. She mostly got me jeans and hoodies so that I can dress just like my parents.

More Holly - Tuesday, February 12, 2008

After the long walk yesterday, I was too tired to exercise. Instead, Mom & Dad took me to Costco, and then we had lunch at Sweet Tomatoes. Later, Holly and Auntie Cari over for a visit. I totally put the smooth moves on Holly. She's starting to notice me now, but I think she's playing hard to get, looking away when I'm cooing at her.

Walk to Google - Monday, February 11, 2008

Mommy and I walked 6 miles today! We met Holly and Auntie Cari at Whisman park, and we walked along Stevens Creek Trail all the way to Google and back. I slept almost the whole way because it was exhausting.

Walk at Rancho San Antonio - Sunday, February 10, 2008

Mom & Dad took me on a nice walk at Rancho San Antonio in Cupertino. We walked through lots of nice greenery, by a stream, and ended up at a farm with chickens, goats, and sheep.

PeaPoders Visit - Saturday, February 9, 2008

Today I met a whole bunch of PeaPoder aunts and uncles who came down from Berkeley to play. I was an extra good boy all evening. Mommy took a great picture of me smiling:



I even showed everyone that I'm old enough not only to recognize but to prefer my Mommy and Daddy over everyone else. I also impressed Mom & Dad by going to bed all by myself. I knew they could hear me through the baby monitor, so I wasn't scared to be upstairs all alone.

Growth Spurt - Friday, February 8, 2008

I drank 5 whole ounces in one sitting. I am definitely having a growth spurt. Yesterday, Mommy said my head grew overnight.

A Walk by the Bay - Thursday, February 7, 2008

Mommy took me on a walk at a bird sanctuary by the bay today. Holly and Auntie Cari met us there. It was a little windy, but the sun was out and warm. I only slept for part of the trip. The rest of the time, I was wide awake, looking around, smelling the smells and listening to the wind, water, and birds. Here's a picture of me catching some rays:

Dates & Boogers - Wednesday, February 5, 2008

I got my first real solid booger! I had been really stuffy all day until I finally sneezed the thing out. Daddy didn't want to wipe it away until after we got a picture of it.



Then I got all cleaned up because we had a date at Holly's house! Uncle Dan cooked dinner; Holly and I did a great job with our synchronized crying so our folks had a hard time eating. Later, when Holly and I got our first real good looks at each other, I put on the smooth moves and held her hand.

I had a date with Holly at Day One. We both got naked as our moms weighed us. I was 9 pounds and 10 ounces! I looked pretty hot, both naked and dressed in my blue jeans and hoodie, but I'm not sure Holly noticed. I'll have to try harder to impress her next time.

First Smile - Sunday, February 3, 2008

I've been practicing how to smile for weeks now, mostly in my sleep. But today I showed my first real smiles. Mommy slept in this morning, and when she came downstairs and picked me up, I looked right at her and flashed my best smile!

Pink Eye?? - Monday, January 28, 2008

Daddy freaked out the other day because I had a big mucousy eye booger. Mommy assured him it was perfectly normal - she gets them all the time. But then last night Mommy started getting worried because I was getting a lot of them in my left eye. During the first few hours of the morning, Mommy kept wiping them away, but my eye kept making more. Finally she called the doctor's office about it. They said it might be pink eye, so we had to go see Dr. Tuch right away. Since my eye wasn't actually pink or red at all, she said it's probably just a blocked tear duct, which is very common for people my age. The tear duct is supposed to drain away my tears, but if it's blocked, then my eye will produce that mucousy discharge. Mommy and Daddy will massage my tear duct to help clear it out.

Tummy Time - Friday, January 25, 2008

Since I always sleep on my back, Mom & Dad give me Tummy Time every day. My neck muscles aren't very well developed yet, so I practice lifting and turning my head side to side. Today I broke my personal record by turning my head five times!

Family Visit - Monday, January 21, 2008

The entire Chow/Liu Juggerenaut has come to visit - all of them! Today I got to meet Grandpa/GongGong, Uncle Wei-Li, my cousins Samantha and Nathalie, and Uncle Kim. YieYie and NaiNai also came down to take us all out for lunch - it's my first official public outing.

First Bath - Friday, January 18, 2008

I had my first real bath finally! Afterward, my hair was all fluffy. Mommy combed it to the side and put a one-piece outfit on me, the kind with footies. Such a relief after spending so many days in these dresses they call 'sleep sacs'. I look like a boy now!

Eating & Pooping - Thursday, January 17, 2008

Auntie Karen came to visit again. She says I look very different. She plays with me and talks to me a lot. I show her my appreciation by pooping every time she plays with me. ;-) Auntie Karen is also encouraging me to eat more. She makes me 3-4 ounces of formula instead of just 2 like Mom and Dad.

My umbilical cord stump finally fell off today. Mommy was changing my clothes when it just popped right off. I also turned my head three times during Tummy Time today. Mom & Dad are so proud of me.

Lactation Consultation - Friday, January 11, 2008

We went to see Joanna, the lactation consultant, today. She said I have posterior tongue tie which may explain why I've had problem nursing. You can really tell when I cry, because my tongue becomes heart-shaped. Something cool I can show my future girlfriends, I guess.

First Doctor's Visit - Tuesday, January 8, 2008

We met Dr. Tuch. She poked and prodded at me, but she was very gentle and nice about it. My weight is only in the 15th percentile, but my length is 27th and head circumference 33rd. I guess I have a big head! I have thrush, so now I have to take medicine 3 times a day. Yuck! Dr. Tuch was concerned about the pointy spot on the back of my head. But hopefully it'll go away soon. If not, I might have to get x-rays!

Newborn Club - Saturday, December 29, 2008

We came home from the hospital on Thursday, but we've been going to the Newborn Club every day. The nurses are worried that I'm jaundiced. I don't have jaundice, I'm just Chinese! Anyway, today they told me my skin looked better but that I'm not gaining enough weight. I weighed 6 pounds 3.3 ounces today, so I've lost a significant amount of weight since birth. I guess I haven't been eating enough, because nursing is scary and hard. Plus, I'm still getting used to being on the outside. It's so bright and cold!

Surprise! - Tuesday, December 25, 2007

Mommy just finished working, and Daddy had his bender weekend with the boys, so I decided to come 2 weeks early! Just in time for Christmas, for PoPo to see me before flying back to Maryland, and a tax break! We came to the hospital on Christmas Eve, but I took 26 hours to finally make my way out. I was born at 5:43pm, and I weighed 6 pounds 10.4 ounces. Watch my birth video:
